Maintain your New Year’s Resolution All Year Round

It’s a New Year and a new you, right? That’s what so many of us think when the clock strikes midnight on December 31st. Ushering in a new year is a chance for a change and a promise for a healthier trip around the sun.

So then why do so many of us fall short on keeping our resolutions?
It seems that no matter how hard you try you just can’t maintain the same enthusiasm as the weeks progress.

Here are just a few tips from global health company, Mannatech (, to use when trying to stick to your goal.

1.) Pick a word, just one word that embodies your goal.
If the list of goals you have set out is too long the task can seem overwhelming. You will quickly forget all of the things you set out to do- but it’s much harder to forget one word. Write that word down somewhere that you look everyday, make it so it’s always on your mind and live by that word.

2.) Find a buddy to help you
It’s lonely and boring to go on a journey by yourself. Find a friend, a coworker, a spouse, even a support group to join you on your path. With social media this makes it especially easy. Join an exercise or health group that posts tips and suggestions on how to achieve your goals. Be sure to find support that will truly inspire you and motivate you.

3.) Prepare to fall
We all have a tendency to fall off the path that we are on, but the difference is what you do after you fall. You are allowed to have cheat days and not follow your diet. You are allowed to skip the gym that day and go to Happy Hour instead. People who are successful at maintaining their resolutions always get back on track. Allowing yourself to have those moments of weakness will allow you to enjoy the journey more instead of despising it.

4.) Set small goals
Nothing is more overwhelming then a huge mountain in front of you. Instead set small achievable hills to cross. Don’t promise to work out 7 days a week, but set out for 2 days and work your way up. Not meeting your goals is the number one reason for people to become frustrated and give up. By setting achievable goals then you are setting yourself up for success.

Always remember that it’s a personal journey so make it your own.
